This sluice was built by the Clives of Rock House in Ballycroy in the 1830s. It was meant to ensure a supply of water in the Owenduff so that salmon could run and be active, even during dry weather.

We recently collected this book from the Ox Bindery in County Sligo. The cover was restored and the spine replaced by Benjamin van de Wetering. Benjamin also made a new case for the book, with a 'book shoe' to support the text block. See earlier posts (May 2012) for views of the text.
